For these edits i set out to create work that resembled the work of Robert Polidori as it was heavily inspired by him. to start i selected a group of images that were similar to his work and resemble the detail that he captures. than began to edit them in a way that would sharpen and enhance their overall appearance. the editing style is very similar for most of these edit because i was trying to achieve the same look and style.
To start i noticed the the surrounding area of the doorway was a little too light for the style i was trying to achieve so i used levels and curves to balance out the shadows which loses the depth around door frame which isn't bad as reflection compensates for that. i feel that doing this created a focal point on the reflection of the glass and the window itself rather than the surrounding area. to enhance it the image i increased the vibrance of the image slightly to give the windows a little colour. after i had done this i used a smart sharpen filter to add the finish.
For this edit i started by creating a copy of the image so i could edit freely and have a spare left in the layers tab incase i couldn't undo and further. I then went upto the filters tab to add a smart sharpen filter which allows me to control the sharpness and the depth that the sharpness goes to the edges of the glass to separate the individual shards and add contrast to them as i had only focus on the middle when taking the shot, i then later regretted this. After the i had sharpened the i add a vibrant and saturation layer adjustment to allow me to control how mute my colour were, for this edit i decided to increase the vibrancy to give the glass a more blue tone which i think contrasted really well with the green mold on the window frame itself. i then use the lasso tool to create and area i wanted to make the focal point, after selecting i use refine edge to allow the selection to bleed into the edges of the glass. i then selected the inverse as i want to blur everything outside of my focal point. going back up to the filters tab used the blur more until i was happy with the result.
